Rain likely tomorrow night, high winds on Thursday
Gusts up to 50-60 mph possible on Thursday
PEORIA (25 News Now) - Our weather will remain quiet tonight and for most of the day tomorrow, but big changes are on the way later this week. Rain, high winds and colder weather are on the way between now and the weekend.
This Evening and Tonight:
We’ll see mainly clear to partly cloudy skies throughout most of the evening and into early tonight. Increasing clouds are expected late tonight and into early tomorrow morning.
Lows will fall back into the mid to upper 20s.
Tomorrow Through Friday:
Most of tomorrow will be cloudy but seasonably mild with highs in the mid 40s. Showers will be possible tomorrow evening, mostly after 8 or 9 PM, and then widespread rain is expected to continue overnight.
Rain will still be possible Thursday morning, although it’s not impossible for a few wet snowflakes to mix in west of the Illinois River. Rain will taper off by early Thursday afternoon. Upward of 1+” of rain will be possible by noon on Thursday.
High winds will also be likely on Thursday, gusting upward of 40-45 mph area wide. Higher gusts up to 50-60 mph will be possible near and east of I-55. As of posting this on Tuesday afternoon, a High Wind Watch is in effect for Thursday for McLean and Livingston Counties. Additional advisories or warnings from the National Weather Service may be issued as well.
Strong winds may cause damage to trees and power lines, which could lead to power outages. Travel will also be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Friday will be colder with highs in the 30s. A few light snow showers may be possible.
This Weekend and Next Week:
Highs will remain in the 30s on Saturday before rebounding into the upper 40s on Sunday. Mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies are expected this weekend.
Next week looks even warmer with highs in the 50s, although we could turn colder by the end of the week.
Rain chances will be possible again during the middle of and end of next week.
