Dry today, widespread rain returns Wednesday night
PEORIA (25 News Now) - Morning temperatures are currently falling behind the passage of a cold front, but are expected to rebound into the mid 40s for highs this afternoon. Cloudy skies will gradually improve to partly sunny for the second half of the day. It will be breezy at times, however winds will not be nearly as intense as they were Monday evening.

Quiet weather will persist through much of the day on Wednesday, with highs once again in the mid 40s. A developing storm system that is currently in the southern Great Plains will slide to the northeast tonight and tomorrow. The arrival of this weather maker will signal high chances for rain after 9 PM Wednesday. Widespread rain will continue overnight, through the Thursday morning commute. There is a chance that a few snowflakes could mix in on the backside of this system through midday Thursday, however no accumulation is currently expected. Rainfall totals are projected to be in the 1-1.5″ range.

The combination of colder air and lingering moisture will signal the potential for scattered snow showers on Friday. Little to no accumulation is currently expected, however the colder temperatures trend will stick around for the start of the weekend. The extended forecast features a quick return to the 40s and 50s for next week.
