PEORIA (1470 & 100.3 WMBD) - CityLink is making temporary adjustments to a few of its bus routes before a bridge project begins next month.
IDOT is planning to start improvements to the Bob Michel Bridge starting on March 13th. In addition to building a new bridge deck, it will remove sidewalks on the bridge and build a separate path for pedestrians and cyclists and a new bridge deck.
CityLink says three routes will be affected, but the most impactful one will be the #20 ICC Express into East Peoria. The route will take Interstate 74 to Exit 94 in East Peoria with the route ending at the Par-A-Dice. All stops between ICC and the Par-A-Dice will be shuttle service only during the construction. In addition, shuttle service at the ICC East Peoria campus will be available at :15 past the hour.
The #23 Pekin Connector route will be affected as well. The new route will use the Cedar Street Bridge to get access to East Peoria. It will miss stops in East Peoria at Edmund and Richmond Streets, the Clocktower, and the Cat AD building. Outbound stops missed in East Peoria include the Cat CV building, Washington and Holiday Streets, the Holiday Inn, and Clocktower and Richland Streets.
The #8 East Peoria Sunnyland route into East Peoria will be another route affected by the bridge construction. Like the #20, the #8 will take Interstate 74 to Exit 94 in East Peoria and cover stops missed on Washington Street in East Peoria by the #23 Pekin Connector Route.
