Hot Wheels soars to new heights in return to Civic Center
There’s a third show on Sunday
PEORIA (25 News Now) - The lights were turned off at the Civic Center as hundreds of kids had the chance to watch Monster Trucks destroy cars at the Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Glow Live tour, back for the second time, tons of families and kids packed the arena as the trucks reached new heights as they were jumping over the small compact cars.
Saturday’s show featured Mega Wrex, Tiger Shark, Boneshaker Bigfoot, and the all-new Gunkster.
This time the show featured a glow party with LED lights on the trucks and throughout the show including a laser show.
The competition between the trucks wowed the crowds last time they toured the area and Show Manager Holly Graham says they are glad to be back in Peoria for an even more extravagant show, “this week at Peoria’s Civic Center Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live glow party is coming back for its second time. We’re expecting to see more fans than ever. We’ll probably be going to see more than 15,000 fans through the weekend.”
25News also had the chance to talk to one of the truck drivers, Eric Steinberg, also known as “Gunkster,” named after the Hot Wheels car.
He says the best part about being a driver is not only living out his childhood dream but also meeting the kids as he used to when he was their age, ”I was always the one kid coming up to all the drivers when I was that tall and I always wanted their autographs and see what they were like in person. For me, it’s being able to see all the kids that I once was and being able to be that role model for them to grow up to,” says Steinberg.
If you missed out on the action Saturday, the show continues Sunday at the Civic Center. tickets are still on sale and the show begins at 2:30 PM.
