Teacher accused of sending explicit photo to 17-year-old
TAZEWELL COUNTY (25 News Now) - Bond has been set for a Henry-Senachwine High School teacher accused of delivering harmful materials to a minor.
In court, it was revealed that he allegedly sent an explicit photo to a 17-year-old and that he did not “exercise reasonable care in determining the age of said defendant.”
Court records show the incident occurred while he was a student-teacher at Washington High School. The WHS student told police Wood followed her on Instagram in late January. He later added her on Snapchat and began sending her messages. Later, he proceeded to send a series of explicit or inappropriate videos.
Garrett Wood was given a $25,000 bond pretrial supervision. He is prohibited from contacting anyone under 18 and cannot use any electronic devices.
As of Wednesday, Garrett Wood was listed on the school’s website as a driver’s ed and history teacher.
His next appearance is February 23 at 2 p.m.
