UPDATE: Woman critical after shooting on Peoria’s south side
PEORIA (25 News Now) - A woman has critical injuries after a shooting about 3 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Wiswall and Laramie Streets on Peoria’s south side.
Peoria Police said in a news release about 6:30 p.m. that they don’t have information about any suspects.
Police said the victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Chief Eric Echevarria talked with reporters at the scene.
“We made it through January without any homicides,” said Echevarria,
“We continue to ask the community to continue to be vigilant that if you see something, let us know,” said the chief.
Members of the Peoria Police Department’s Special Investigations Division (SID), Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Crime Scene Unit (CSU), Patrol Unit and a PPD K-9 responded to the scene, according to the news release.
