Peoria woman dead after Saturday morning car accident

TAZEWELL COUNTY (25 News Now) - The Tazewell County Coroner’s Office confirmed in a Facebook post that a woman from Peoria died after a one-vehicle crash early in the morning on January 28.

Shortly after 5 a.m., authorities were alerted of the accident that occurred going eastbound on Interstate 74 near mile marker 107 between Morton and Deer Creek. The 50-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name is being withheld at this time pending notification to her family.

Further information will be released by Coroner Charles R. Hanley Monday after an autopsy.

The case remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police, the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office, and the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office.
