PEORIA (25 News Now) - Four participants graduated from Tazewell County’s drug court Wednesday morning.

The four graduates - Ethan Fischer, Chris Sarnecke, Brett Engelbrecht and Robert Metcalf - say they exited the two-year course feeling accomplished and whole.

“Just be open-minded. Be willing to change. There will be obstacles,” said participant Christopher Sarnecke. “The Lord and this program have kept me going.”

The program is focused on structure and helps those who seek sobriety.

“Our graduates put in at least two years of hard work on their disorders, chemical addictions, as well as their criminal behavior,” said Chief Probation Officer Justin Stump. “This is really coming together to celebrate all the work that they’ve done over the last 2-plus years to return to a good, productive society.”

Thirty-one participants gathered to celebrate the graduates, and all had negative drug test results on Wednesday.
