Man found guilty of attempted murder in Galesburg shooting
GALESBURG (25 News Now) - A Knox County jury on Wednesday found a man guilty of attempted murder for a shooting that happened in Galesburg almost a year ago.
After a three-day trial, the jury deliberated about an hour before returning guilty verdicts against Brandon Wilson, who was arrested for shooting someone in the torso at the Belle Isle Apartments on North West Street in Galesburg on March 3, 2022.
The jury also found Wilson guilty of aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.
Knox County State’s Attorney Jeremy Karlin issued a statement after Wilson’s trial.
“The work done here is another example of the priority this office places on the prosecution of crimes of violence and gun crimes,” said Karlin.
“In the months to come, we will be trying crimes of violence and gun crimes before Knox County juries and after obtaining guilty verdicts, seeking significant jail sentences,” Karlin said.
Wilson remains jailed until his sentencing later this year.
