Bar owner sentenced to 30 days jail, conditional discharge following 2020 East Peoria hit-and-run
TAZEWELL COUNTY (25 News Now) - A Peoria bar owner has been sentenced to jail for hitting a woman with his car and leaving the scene at a casino three years ago.
Martin Walgenbach was sentenced to 30 days in jail starting March 3 - giving him time to get his medications approved in the Tazewell County Jail.
He was also sentenced to 30 months of conditional discharge starting today, meaning he can commit no crimes, have no weapons or leave the state without approval.
He was also sentenced to 910 hours of public service - an hour a day for everyday of probation.
Walgenbach will not pay restitution as he has already done that previously.
He has a remission hearing on March 5, 2025 at the end of his 30 months of conditional discharge. If he’s followed the conditions of his probation, his record will no longer show the jail time.
Walgenbach was accused of leaving the scene of a hit-and-run at the Par-A-Dice in January 2020 that injured one.
He owns Martini’s on Water Street in Peoria.
