First Alert: Hazardous travel Wednesday
PEORIA (25 News Now) - Today is a First Alert Weather Day due to hazardous travel conditions as a result of accumulating snow. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the entire 25 News Viewing Area through 6 PM this evening. Plan ahead for a longer commute into work due to snow covered roads and reduced visibility from falling snow. The snow will become less intense by late morning, with off and on snow showers for the second half of the day. In total, 2-4″ of snow is expected to fall areawide, with the potential for 3-5″ for communities along and east of I-55.

The upcoming forecast remains unsettled, with multiple snow chances over the coming days. Scattered snow showers will continue Thursday, with another dusting to half inch possible in spots. A weak disturbance will bring the chance for another round of scattered snow showers Friday. Little to no additional accumulation is expected with the Friday round of snow showers.

The busy winter pattern will bring yet another weather system of interest for the weekend. Most of Saturday is trending dry, however central Illinois may see snow showers during the late evening hours. Light snow is then forecast to continue into Sunday morning.
