Connect Transit receiving over $9M to invest in modern vehicles, equipment

NORMAL (25 News Now) - Connect Transit is on the receiving end of two awards totaling $9.6 million, as part of the state’s Rebuild Illinois capital construction program.

According to a release, Connect Transit will use the award to continue the development and implementation of an on-demand transportation service called “microtransit.”

The funds will also be used for facility construction that will offer opportunities for local contractors and construction trades.

Connect Transit is one of 32 downstate transit providers that are sharing in the total $114 million award.
