Bradley University gains ownership of former Main St. Avanti’s with plans for campus, community green space

PEORIA (25 News Now) - Bradley University has announced the acquisition of the former Avanti’s Restaurant at 1303 W. Main St. with plans to turn the property into green space.
In a release, the university says they gained ownership of the .62-acre property Friday.
Site surveys and green space design will begin soon.
“This project represents an investment in our campus and our community,” Bradley University President Steve Standifird said in the release. “This highly visible property sits on the thresholds of our campus. Green space here will add appeal to the area, ease pedestrian mobility near the Main and University intersection, and will provide needed space for respite and recreation.”
Project plans are still underway. Bradley will share more information and a timeline as it becomes available.
