German culture and tradition celebrated during Winterfest
PEORIA (25 News Now) -A German tradition was celebrated at Lindenhof Sunday afternoon.
‘Winterfest’ pays homage to the Medieval Times when people got together to celebrate with each other.
Traditional foods like meatballs also known as Frikadelle, mashed potatoes, and deserts were all up for grabs.
The funds raised, Sunday, will go to scholarships to support Bradley University’s music programs and other organizations dedicated to German culture.
Mike Barnes, the President of Harmonie, says these events mean quality time for those in attendance.
“Meet old friends, new friends regale about the stories of their travels and just kind of catch up with everybody so most of the festivals are kind of like what we have here Lindenhof. Just long tables. Get together and socialize. Have a good meal. Good fellowship so that is what they do.”
