Dry to end the week, light snow this weekend
PEORIA (25 News Now) - The work week will end on a dry note Friday, with mostly cloudy skies overhead. There is a chance for an isolated flurry or two north of I-74 Friday morning. Temperatures will run slightly colder than the past few days, with afternoon highs in the mid 30s. Mostly cloudy skies may give way to filtered sunshine later in the afternoon.

Saturday may begin with filtered sunshine, however the clouds will increase during the day. Most of Saturday will be dry and quiet weather wise, with fairly light southwesterly winds. The next weather system of interest will move into central Illinois late Saturday evening and will bring the potential for light snow through mid-morning on Sunday. Accumulating snow is possible, however snow totals are not expected to be too impressive. The northern third of the viewing area will have the chance to see up to 2″ of snow, while the southern two-thirds have the chance to see up to 1″. An inch or two is more than enough to create slippery road conditions for any Sunday travel plans.

Dry weather returns Monday and Tuesday, with temperatures projected to climb into the upper 30s. The next storm system to watch is forecast to move into the region Wednesday. It is possible that we could be talking about a more significant amount of accumulating snow with this system, however it too soon to talk about specifics. Stay tuned for the latest!
