Bloomington Police launch tip411 anonymous tip system
BLOOMINGTON (25 News Now) - The Bloomington Police Department is announcing the launch of tip411 in the city, an anonymous system to text tips to police.
The internet-based system, from Citizen Observer, “enables the public to share important public safety information anonymously with the department by sending a secure text message about crimes or suspicious activity in Bloomington,” according to a release.
tip411 also lets the police department respond to messages for two-way anonymous conversation.
Anyone with a cell phone may send an anonymous crime tip to Bloomington Police by texting the word BPDTIPS along with their message/tip to 847411.
Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the department’s website at https://www.bloomingtonil.gov/government/departments/police/submit-a-tip.
“Our mission is to work in partnership with the community members of Bloomington to enforce the laws and to enhance the quilty of life in our community,” said Bloomington Police Chief Jamal Simington. “It is this partnership which will alow for collaborative problem-solving, crime prevention and safer neighborhoods.”
“We also believe that our proactive use of new and existing technologies increases our capability to make the City of Bloomington safer.”
Peoria Police launched the tip411 system a year ago.
