(25 News Now) - Thursday night was crosstown rivalry night in Big 12 girls basketball. In Peoria, Class 3A No. 2 Peoria High beat Class 3A No. 3 Peoria Notre Dame 47-37in the rubber match of their rivalry showdown. In the Twin Cities, Class 4A No. 6 Normal Community beat Normal West 58-31 in a rivalry victory. In the Mid-Illini, Class 3A No. 6 Washington topped Pekin 50-35.

It was semifinal night at the girls McLean County/HOI Conference Basketball Tournament. In the first semifinal, four-seed Dee-Mack upset defending champion and top-seed Fieldcrest 53-40 to advance to the title game where they’ll meet two-seed Tremont who topped Eureka 51-43. In Illini Prairie Conference action, Bloomington Central Catholic beat Olympia 77-53.

In the boys consolation bracket at the McLean County/HOI Conference tournament, El Paso-Gridley beat LeRoy 50-43 while Heyworth topped Tremont 71-60.

It was a special day at Canton as Little Giants track and field standout Karlee Zumstein signed to compete at Western Illinois.
