PEORIA (25 News Now) - Kick off the long weekend with some of these events happening in Central Illinois on January 14, 2022.

23rd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Choral Celebration

Join The Heritage Ensemble for their 23rd annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. choral celebration. Tickets for the event will be available at the door!

When: 7:30 pm

Where: Illinois Central College Performing Arts Center in East Peoria

Cost: $15 adults | $12 seniors | $8 children

“Get Instrumental” with Matt Grebner

Get instrumental at the Peoria Riverfront Museum! This musical event is inspired by the museum’s “Art of Opera” exhibit. Kidder Music studio instructor Matt Grebner will be in the museum lobby to introduce kids of all ages to the magic of music. There will be a short 20-minute talk about orchestral instruments, followed by an afternoon of hands-on demonstrations.

When: 12 - 2 pm

Where: Peoria Riverfront Museum Lobby

Big Bang Bubble Show

Learn the science behind bubbles at the Big Bang Bubble Show! Hosted by the Fondulac District Library in East Peoria, a highly-skilled bubbleologist will put on an exciting and educational show complete with bubble fog, a cube-shaped bubble, and more! All ages are welcome at this event.

When: 2 pm

Where: Fondulac District Library in East Peoria

Saturday at Wildlife Prairie Park

Two events are happening at Wildlife Prairie Park today!

Winter Wellness Yoga with Southside Healing Arts starts at 11 am. All levels are welcome! Just bring your own mat to the Hespell Deck. This event is free with park admission.

The other event, Critters and Coffee begins at 2 pm. There will be an informative discussion and a guest speaker in Forest Hall A. This week’s theme is “All About Earthworms!” Tickets for this event are free for members or $5 for non-members.

When: Yoga at 11 am | Critters and Coffee at 2 pm

Where: Wildlife Prairie Park in Hanna City

Cost: Park admission (other fees may apply)
