PEORIA (25 News Now) - A holiday disaster at Illinois Wesleyan University sent 45 students into new homes for the Spring semester.

School officials tell us it happened on Christmas Eve during the extreme cold. All units will need some repairs as it happened on the third floor and leaked down the building.

As of January 9th, all the displaced students have found alternate housing, either on or off campus.

“Based on the extent of the damage we had to move all of the apartment tenants out of the building so we could conduct all the repairs,” said Kyle Griffith, Director of Residential Life.

Because some students still need to move out, they aren’t sure the full scope of damage and the cost to repair it.

The school hopes the apartments will be repaired by Summer.
