WASHINGTON (25 News Now) - This weekend, families had the chance to become one with the Force while becoming smarter at the same time.

‘STEAM into Star Wars’ at Washington Community High School brought fans of the franchise together, all free of charge. According to organizer Tom Gross, STEAM stands for ‘Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.’ All of those elements came together in the form of interactive opportunities for families, bridged by elements of science fiction. That included presentations and podcasts to help teach attendees how to create in different mediums.

Local artists and authors were there alongside robotics teams to show that imagination can branch into all areas of real-life application, and that what we see in stories can fuel what we create in reality.

”My hope is to inspire the kids, see all these things, and wonder ‘What if? What if I can do that?’” Gross tells 25News.

Over 30 prize packages were also given away to attendees. They could also check out Star Wars related books, comics, and games to help their Jedi (or Sith) side out.
