70 years ago – on February 1st, 1953 – WEEK-TV became the first TV station in Central Illinois. It was a new way for people to “see” the news in their community.

WEEK’s first anchor to deliver the local news was Bob Arthur. Chuck Harrison and Canton native Tom Connor, who’s real name was Emil Sepich, followed at the anchor desk.

In the early 1970′s, Marg Fox became Channel 25′s first female anchor on News 25 at Noon. She was soon followed by Kathy Dancy and Christine Zak.

Following the untimely death of Tom Connor in 1977, Tom McIntyre became the main News 25 anchor for the next forty years. Some of his co-anchors included Mike Dimmick, Shelli Dankoff, Anna Werner and Gina Morss. And it was Garry Moore, after leaving local radio news, who started WEEK-TV morning news, becoming the trusted morning news anchor on News 25 Today for over 20 years.
