GLASFORD (25 News Now) - When it comes to gym class, Mr. Bricker at Illini Bluffs is known for more than just physical education, in fact he’s described as one of the most creative P.E. teachers around.

“I like to keep it nice and fun, challenges for them…it’s not the same stuff we used to do when I was a kid. We’re doing volleyball now, when I was a kid we didn’t do volleyball till I got in high school, just different challenges for them.”

Even relying on students from the past as an example for current kids in his classes.

“On the wall behind me you can see high school students actually demonstrating, they get involved, because they know the kids that are showing them on the wall here what’s going on, they like that stuff.”

Bricker even has Workout Wednesday, a program where teachers not only participate in P.E. with students; their names are entered into a drawing for prizes.

He calls the grant great, adding that all P.E. departments needs money and he knows just what to spend it on.

“Oh, I always have lots of equipment to buy, there’s never a shortage of equipment for PE classes. I need lots of cones, I need lots of balls, I need lots of stuff for PE class.”
