CHILLICOTHE (25 News Now) - Firefighters from several departments battled a house fire in sub-zero temperatures Thursday night.
Chillicothe Fire Chief Marvin Roderick said the home on North Bradley Avenue in Chillicothe is “almost a total loss.”
The garage and a car inside were destroyed, said Chief Roderick. He said one person was home at the time but was not injured.
The fire started in the chimney, and flames spread to the roof, which eventually collapsed, said Roderick.
He said it was so cold that water lines froze, and chief expressed concern that firefighters may have suffered frostbite.
Firefighters were helped at the scene by Peoria Heights, Mossville, Dunlap, Akron-Princeville and Lacon-Sparland fire departments.
