West Peoria barbershop givingaway bikes for Christmas

WEST PEORIA (25 News Now) - A West Peoria business is bringing holiday cheer to children in need with a bike giveaway.

The owners of Ford’s Barbershop and Salon said they just wanted to do something nice for the community, so they bought two small bikes for a boy and a girl this Christmas.

The bikes can be claimed by anyone knows a child that would like a bike this Christmas. You don’t have to be a client of the barbershop. You can stop by their West Peoria location on Rohmann Ave and place a name and phone number in one of the Christmas stockings hanging on the bikes. The owners of Fords are married and have six kids of their own. They said a bike on Christmas morning is the perfect gift.

“Christmas was always great for me as a kid. Christmas has been a little rough over the last few years for my family. This year we’re doing great and since we’re going great, we’re going to try to pay it forward. That’s why we’re doing it,” Owner Trow Ford said.

This is Ford’s first year doing the bike giveaway, but they say they plan to do it every year.

You have until December 23rd to nominate a child to receive the bike.
