PEORIA (25 News Now) - Shoppers are working to cross off items on their loved ones’ wish lists for the holiday season, but the Children’s Home Association of Illinois is asking for help in making sure kids in their cars get everything on their list.

Each year, CHA compiles individual wish lists for every kid in their care. This year, they had over 1,000 total. From toys and electronics to personal care items and clothing, each item is something that an individual child specifically asks for.

So far, most of the lists have been completed and fulfilled. CHA is asking for help in covering the remaining 75 lists.

“We are overwhelmed and humbled by how our community rallies around [us],” Chief of External Affairs Camille Simpson said. “We know there’s a lot of choices for people to make in who they support and how they do it, especially in such a giving time. We’re very honored when people choose Children’s Home and we see these wishlists going one after another after another.”

Each list is estimated to cost around $75. Individuals and businesses in the community can request one to as many wish lists as they want. Those interested in completing a list can submit an application. Once gifts are delivered to CHA, they are given to the parent or family of that child so they can be wrapped for the holidays.

CHA has been in the Peoria Community for over 150 years and raised toys and funds for the holidays every year. Children in their system can be receiving foster care services, clinical support, educational support, and prevention measures. They also work with youth in the care of the state.
