UPDATE: Crash of 2 SUVs turns fatal in northwest Peoria
UPDATE (9:50 P.M.) - Peoria Police provide more details in a news release, saying one of the drivers was thrown from the sport utility vehicle she was driving, and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The other driver also went to the hospital, but police said that person’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
Police said one of the SUVs was trying to turn southbound onto Orange Prairie, off of American Prairie, and collided with the other SUV that was traveling southbound on Orange Prairie. One of the SUVs wound up on its side, according to the Peoria Fire Department.
The Peoria Police Department’s Traffic Unit is investigating.

UPDATE (9:15 p.m.) - Peoria’s Emergency Communications Center have reopened all lanes of Orange Prairie after Wednesday afternoon’s fatal crash.
UPDATE (8:52 p.m.) - The Peoria Fire Department said the fatal crash at Orange Prairie and Route 150 involved two sport utility vehicles. One of the SUVs rolled on its side.
A battalion chief said both drivers went to the hospital. A woman was pronounced dead. Injuries to the other driver did not appear to be life threatening, according to the battalion chief.
PEORIA (25 News Now) - A person was killed late Wednesday afternoon in a two-car crash at Orange Prairie and Route 150, Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood confirmed to 25 News.
Harwood said a female was pronounced dead at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. He says he’ll provide more details on Thursday.
About 4:30 p.m. Peoria’s Emergency Communications Center reported Orange Prairie was closed in both directions near Hy-Vee at Grand Prairie. Southbound lanes were reopened about 7 p.m.
