PEORIA (25 News Now) - 12.47 tons of donations have been collected to help the Peoria Friendship House of Christian Service.

The 35th annual Stuff-A-Bus event started October 28th and ended Wednesday.

Weight of the food collected on the bus was 22,000 pounds or 11 tons and other donations were placed in CityLink vehicles.

The previous record for donations was set in 2008 with 11.8 tons collected.

“...It is obvious from this record achievement of donations collected that the food drive would not be a success without the generosity and support we receive from the local community. These donations are a blessing to the families we serve and will keep our food pantry filled for the next several months,” said Marcellus Sommerville, President and CEO of Peoria Friendship House.

CityLink has hosted the food drive for the last 35 years to help eliminate hunger in Peoria.

This year the Peoria Friendship House food pantry has provided about 450 meals weekly to families dealing with hunger.
