UPDATE: 1 dead in car crash near Morton

UPDATE (9:50 p.m.) - The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office confirms one person died in a two-car crash that happened about three miles east of Morton at Harding Road and the Morton-Washington Blacktop.

Police were not able to say how many other people were taken to the hospital after the crash that happened about 4:20 p.m.

Roads have reopened, according to police.

MORTON (25 News Now) - The coroner is on the scene of a crash east of Morton, the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office says.

The crash happened about 4:20 p.m. near the intersection of Washington and Harding, about three miles east of Morton. Washington Road is commonly known as the Morton-Washington Blacktop.

The Sheriff’s office says to avoid the area as first responders work to reconstruct the crash. The intersection was still closed after 6:30 p.m. There were multiple vehicles involved.
