Peoria High football honored with celebration for Class 5A second-place finish
PEORIA (25 News Now) - One day after falling to Nazareth Academy 45-44 in the Class 5A State championship game, the Peoria High Lions were honored by the community.
Peoria High fans and family celebrating the Lions’ season accomplishments Sunday, including their second-place finish. Although the loss in the state title game hurt, the Lions are grateful for the memories together and the support of the community.
“It means a lot of have all the support here in the gym,” Frank Odom, Peoria High senior, said. You know, we took a tough loss but having all our family around it really helps. Without our family we probably wouldn’t have gotten this far.”
“The kind of memories we had as a team, I’ll never forget them,” Ricky Hearn, Peoria High senior wide receiver, said. “I love these boys like my mom had them. The support we get from Peoria is insane. No matter where you are in Peoria, they all came out for the state game and they all showed us that love.”
