CENTRAL ILLINOIS (25 News Now) - Friday was a busy night in high school basketball throughout Central Illinois.
Friday was a first at the Kevin Brown Memorial Tournament of Champions. For the first time in the 17-year tournament history, a Bloomington-Normal school played, Normal Community. The Iron fell to Pewaukee, a team from Wisconsin, 53-32. Also at the Tournament of Champions, Washington fell to Santa Fe Springs from California 56-43, and Metamora edges Booker T. Washington 76-73 from Houston, Texas.
Also Friday, Morton defeats North Chicago 79-41, and Pekin falls to T.F. North 54-49.
In the Intercity Tournament, Bloomington defeats Normal West 62-57, and Bloomington Central Catholic edges Normal U-High 71-70 in overtime. At the Peoria Heights Tournament, Peoria Christian edges Cornerstone Christian 63-60 for the tournament title.
In the El Paso-Gridley Tournament, the host Titans defeat Roanoke-Benson 53-21, and East Peoria beats Olympia 92-51. In the Dee-Mack Tournament, IVC defeats the host Chiefs 63-41, and Eureka defeats Peoria Quest 78-36.
In girls basketball action, Morton defeats Peoria Richwoods 44-34, Washington beats Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin 62-40, Metamora defeats Normal West 51-37, and Brimfield earns a 61-45 win over Wethersfield and will play for the Brimfield Tournament title Saturday.
