PEORIA (25 News Now) - A 2-year-old child was rushed to the hospital in Peoria on Thanksgiving Day after being shot. Peoria Police confirming it happened around 6:15 in the 400 Block of East Archer Street and is being considered an ‘accidental shooting.’

The child was taken by private vehicle to the hospital before medics or emergency personnel arrived.

Peoria Police spokesperson Semone Roth said late Thanksgiving evening the toddler’s injuries are considered non-life threatening, and the child should be ok.

The gender of the child is not being released at this time. Police are still working to find out how the shooting took place.
