BLOOMINGTON (25 News Now) - Before the biggest meal of the year, more than 1,500 people trotted through Bloomington.

It’s the 44th Annual Turkey Trot hosted by Bloomington’s Parks and Recreation Department.

All ages were invited to participate in three different races starting Thursday morning.

Organizers say the free event brought in hundreds of more people than it did last year.

“The best thing is; the community comes out not only support us, to have a family event before they have their family Thanksgiving’s,” said Eric Veal, Director of Parks and Recreation for Bloomington.

“I love it. All the people come out to have a good time,” said 20-year volunteer, Chris Riddle.

Bloomington’s next race is the ‘Ugliest Sweater Run’ on Dec. 3.
