(25 News Now) - Dunlap’s “Team Tessa” is encouraging people throughout Central Illinois to donate blood during the holidays when blood supplies are low.

Tessa Sutton, who’s 16, is the team’s inspiration. She’s been fighting Osteosarcoma for more than a year.

Tessa, a Dunlap soccer player, has an army of supporters. Her teammates even cut their hair for her.

During treatments, Tessa needed several blood transfusions, which highlight the importance of blood donations.

To keep the supply for patients like Tessa, she’s encouraging everyone to donate during this week’s blood drives.

There’s a blood drive running until December 3 at ImpactLife’s Peoria Donor Center at 1123 West Glen Avenue.

Tuesday, from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., there’s a blood drive at Five Points Washington Community Center at 360 North Wilmore Road in Washington.

Wednesday, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., there’s a blood drive at the Chillicothe Public Library at 430 North Bradley Avenue.

Twin Cities’ residents have a chance to donate blood Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at STATION5ONE AT 404 Olympia Drive in Bloomington.
