PEORIA (25 News Now) -You are invited to Thanksgiving dinner!

Ahead of the Peoria High School’s State Football Championship game this weekend, the mothers of the players are holding a Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow and they want YOU to attend and meet the team.

They are asking anyone who wants to attend to either bring food or a financial donation to support the team.

The Moms say this is an opportunity for the community to meet the players and enjoy good food, as they prepare to head to Champaign to defend the Class 5A title.

“We know there are some players on the team who might not have a traditional thanksgiving. so this is our way of getting behind them and saying ‘here is your Thanksgiving,’ explains Tricia Dixon, the wife of Damarvis Dixon, Head Freshmen Football coach and the Assistant Varsity Football Coach for Peoria High.

The dinner begin at 11am, at Peoria High school. The team went 12-1 this season.

Game time is at 10am on Saturday, November 26th at the University of Illinois’ Memorial Stadium.
