Train fair stops at ICC Sunday
EAST PEORIA (25 News Now) - Model train enthusiasts and die-hard hobbyists were able to come together at Illinois Central College to share in their passion for the craft.
The train fair had all types of train cars for sale and on display
Some of the vendors were selling original pieces designed by inventor and engineer Joshua Lionel Cowen who invented and built the electric model trains back in 1901.
Some of Cowen’s original designs dating back to before World War I were on sale for up to $1,000.
Hobbyists say it’s more to building the sets and designs that bring this love and passion together.
“It gives us a chance to learn things about electronics and carpentry and the way things work together, and these are things you can pay to learn but you can learn them on your own as a model railroader,” said Michael Shockley.
All proceeds from the fair go to support the Illinois Valley Model Railroad Club in Peoria and the River City Model Railroad Club in Pekin.
According to the event description, both work to highlight and promote the efforts of model railroading.
