Holiday season ushered in early at ‘Festival of Trees’ fundraiser
PEORIA (25 News Now) - Even though Thanksgiving hasn’t arrived yet, it was a winter wonderland at the Grand Prairie Holiday Inn and Suites.
Saturday, over 80 decorated trees were up for auction at the Crittenton Center’s Festival of Trees fundraising event. Hosted annually, bids are open from November 17th through the 20th, with all of the money raised going to help local families at the center’s Crisis Nursery. The effort aims to raise $200,000, with over three-quarters of the funds already raised as of Saturday evening.
Starting in July, volunteers are selected to curate trees and design them from the ground up, varying in size and style. Besides trees, items like wreaths, home decor, and ‘memory making kits’ are also available.
“We work every day to strengthen families and prevent child abuse and neglect,” says The Center’s Development and Marketing Director Sandy Garza. “Our goal is to keep families together.”
There’s still time to place a bid on the items. If you do not need a tree but win one, you have the opportunity to donate it to the apartments at the Dream Center. Bidding is still ongoing at the event’s official website, which you can visit by clicking the link here. Bidding is open through noon Sunday.
