PEORIA (25 News Now) - One of the biggest movies of the year brought together dozens of Peoria residents earlier Sunday at Willow Knolls Mall.

‘Wakanda Forever’, the newest Marvel movie to grace the silver screen, is already bringing in hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office. This was aided by an event organized by State Representative Jehan Gordon-Booth, who sent out an open invitation to the event.

The Peoria Friendship House sent over a group of kids to watch the movie, along with two charter coach buses filled with adults and families. Everyone was greeted with free popcorn and drinks upon arrival, as well.

“I love being able to love on my community. We are a giving community, a loving community, and sometimes we can kind of lose sight of that. So I wanted to just use this as an opportunity to just love on folks,” says Gordon-Booth, the event’s host.

She adds the open-invitation event sold out the venue in 37 minutes.
