(25 News Now) - With just one day until they make their state volleyball finals debut, IVC got a chance to practice at Illinois State’s CEFCU Arena in Normal to get their state finals experience underway, an experience they’re thrilled to be taking part in.

The state quarterfinals in high school football, meanwhile are just two days away. In Class 7A, Pekin hosts Lake Zurich at 2:30 p.m. in perhaps the biggest game in Dragon program history. In Class 5A, Peoria High is ready to make another run at a state title as they prepare to visit Mascoutah on Saturday at 3 p.m.

In Class 3A, Olympia is looking to continue shocking the state football world as they prepare for their first quarterfinal appearance since 1985.

Thursday also saw some more Central Illinois high school standouts sign their college letters. At Peoria High, basketball standout Denali Craig-Edwards inked her college letter to play Division I hoops at Western Michigan. At Morton, four Potters baseball stars signed their college letters. Pitcher Tate Roley is headed to play Division I at Bradley. The other three Potters, pitcher Will Leman, infielder Ethan Hurst and catcher Braylan Smith will all play together at Lincoln Land.
