Central Illinois celebrates National Signing Day
(25 News Now) - Wednesday was National Signing Day across the country as high school athletes put pen to paper to continue their athletic careers in college and that included plenty right here in Central Illinois.
At Washington, five Panthers signed their college letters. Basketball standout Claire McDougall signed with Bradley basketball. Wrestling state champ Kannon Webster signed with Illinois while teammate Blake Hinrichsen inked his college letter to Cal Poly. Volleyball standout Jori Dowling signed with The University of the Cumberlands and all-state soccer star Mitch Coughlon signed with Bradley.
At Metamora, four Redbird standouts signed Tuesday. From the softball team, Katy Ramage officially signed to play at Northern Illinois. Alongside her, three volleyball stars also signed college letters. Setter Victoria Hall is headed to Division I Incarnate Word, middle hitter Mia Querciagrossa is headed to Trinity Christian College and defensive specialist Ella Stivers is set to play at Aurora University.
At IVC, volleyball all-stater Kenna Wollard interrupted her preparation for the Grey Ghosts’ trip to the state finals this weekend to sign her college letter to the Big Ten and Purdue. Meanwhile, softball star Katie Petran is also Division I. She signed to play at Butler next year.
At Normal West, it was a Division I day for the Wildcats as three athletes signed to play Division I sports. All-state soccer goalie Owen Senn is headed to DePaul. All-state volleyball setter Sydney Sennett signed to play at Morehead State and standout baseball player Jesse Courtney signed to stay at home and play at Illinois State
