Man arrested for business burglary in West Peoria
PEORIA (25 News Now) - The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office says a Peoria man has been arrested for a business burglary that happened in September at Shelton’s Bar in West Peoria.
In a post on Facebook Wednesday, Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins announced the arrest of 32-year-old Gregory A. Belville.
He faces charges of business burglary, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon (stolen sawed off shotgun), criminal damage, two separate Peoria County warrants, and has a hold for the Department of Corrections.
During his arrest on Tuesday, November 8th, Watkins says detectives found two firearms in Belville’s vehicle. It was then, according to Watkins, he admitted to the burglary and also admitted to swallowing methamphetamine during the arrest.
He was taken to the hospital, released, and then booked in the Peoria County jail.
The Sheriff’s Office issued a statement on September 2nd, asking for the public’s help in identifying a man from surveillance footage from Shelton’s Bar, who allegedly broke into the gaming machines and stole an undisclosed amount of money.
