Political expert weighs in on Election Day
Key issues across the country are economy, abortion & safety and the polls
PEORIA (25 News Now) - 25News spoke with political expert Tiffany White, the Executive Director of the Dirksen Congressional Center in Pekin. She says there are no known issues or threats here in Illinois and that the integrity in our voting process hasn’t been questioned.
She goes on to say the new option to permanently vote by mail may make it easier for voters to do their research as they are filling out their ballots and not feel the pressure in the voting booth where they can’t do the homework and it has to be done ahead of time.
White says, “if you’re a voter who feels as though you’re going to be intimidated and potentially disenfranchised you can circumvent all of that with a mail-in ballot and so I think that it’s a unique answer to a lot of potential problems when it comes to voting.”

White explains that when it comes to who may have control over the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate, it’s up in the air right now, but the Democratically controlled chambers could be flipped, primarily the House, “historically speaking it’s not unexpected, it’s not predictable that the Republicans could regain a majority in the house. And I think they are doing so in part in the issue that the economy which has overshadowed I think just every major other issue in the country right now.”
