UPDATE 1:07 P.M. - The driver of the box truck was cited, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.

UPDATE: 9:22 A.M. - 6 students were taken to various Peoria hospitals with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. 5 other students on the bus refused transport and were left in the care of their parents.

Logan-Trivoli Fire Chief David Tuttle says the driver of the box truck did not see the school bus slowing to turn onto Quarry Road, then hit the bus.

The bus then went through a ravine and hit a house at the corner of Quarry and Farmington roads.

Tuttle says there was significant damage to both vehicles and damage to the house.

The drivers of the bus and truck were also transported to various hospitals with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The road has since been reopened.

UPDATE: 8:40 A.M. - The Peoria County Sheriff confirms five children on board a school bus were sent to a hospital with minor injuries after a collision with a box truck early Monday morning.

It happened around 7:15 AM at Route 116 and Quarry Road.

Sheriff Chris Watkins says both vehicles were heading westbound on 116, when a box truck hit the Farmington School District school bus in the rear, pushing it into a residence.

11 children were on board. Five were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The bus driver was also taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The Sheriff adds the driver of the box truck was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

More information is expected to be released later Monday.

PEORIA COUNTY (25 News Now) - The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office confirms a school bus was involved in a crash with a box truck early Monday morning in Peoria County.

Minor injuries were reported.

A Peoria ECC Supervisor said around 7:30 AM Monday that Route 116 from Stone School Road to Quarry Road was closed in both directions due to an incident.

Further information has not yet been released.
