(25 News Now) - Wednesday night was sectional title night in high school volleyball with a whole slew of local teams competing for their spots in the State Elite Eight. At the Class 3A LaSalle-Peru Sectional, we had an all Mid-Illini matchup as Metamora topped Limestone in two sets to win the sectional and move on to their second straight Elite Eight. They’ll play in the Sterling Super-Sectional on Friday at 7 p.m. against Wheaton St. Francis.

At the Class 3A Lincoln Sectional, a Twin Cities showdown saw Normal U-High beat Normal West in three sets to advance. The Pioneers will play in the Chatham Glenwood Super-Sectional on Friday at 6 p.m. against Taylorville.

At the Class 2A Prairie Central Sectional, IVC beat Fieldcrest in two sets to take home their second straight sectional title. The Grey Ghosts will take on Pleasant Plains at the Maroa-Forsyth Super-Sectional on Friday at 6 p.m.

At the Class 1A Brimfield Sectional, Hartem fell to Augusta Southeastern in three sets.

In soccer, Peoria Notre Dame is headed back to the state finals this weekend. The Irish are set to take on Chicago’s Solorio Academy in a state semifinal on Friday at 1 p.m. at Hoffman Estates.
