(25 News Now) - The IHSA State Football Playoffs are officially on the horizon as the playoff pairings for teams around the state were released on Saturday night. You can find a list of all our local team’s matchups here.
Saturday night also brought us regional championships on the soccer field. At the 2A Peoria Notre Dame regional, the host Irish beat Dunlap 3-1 to advance to the Washington sectional next week. At the 2A Bloomington sectional, Normal West fell to Champaign Central 2-1.
In volleyball, Tri-Valley beat Eureka in two sets to claim the Heart of Illinois Conference Tournament title while IVC beat Rantoul in two sets to finish 9-0 in the Illini Prairie Conference.
It was regional day in cross country across the state. At the Class 2A Peoria Notre Dame regional at Donovan Park, the Morton boys cruised to a regional championship behind a first-place finish from Josh Weeks. The Washington girls are also regional champs. Freshman Sophia Ramirez took home the individual title for the Panthers. At the 1A Eureka regional, Normal U-High won the boys team title behind a first-place finish from Mason Hart. The host Hornets were the girls winners. El Paso-Gridley’s Nellie Mellick was the individual champ.
In the pool, Normal Community finished 2nd at the Big 12 Conference Swim meet at Peoria Richwoods.
