100 children in Bloomington are getting free beds

BLOOMINGTON (25 News Now) - 100 children in Bloomington will be sleeping on their very own bed tonight, some for the first time.

It’s all thanks to the Bed Blitz, a foundation that assembles twin-sized bed frames for children of low-income families. Dozens showed up on Saturday in two shifts to learn and build the beds, with the mattresses donated for free. Over 300 people applied for over 600 beds, which shows that the need is high.

“We are doing it because the kids are our future, and we want to make sure that they have a good night’s rest and are able to excel in the classroom. It will help us all,” Robert Bosquez from Bed Blitz said.

Each bed frame also came with a handmade quilt, pillow, sheets, teddy bear, laundry detergent, and books.
