ATASCOCITA, TEXAS (25 News Now) - Two Peoria natives are dead after a shooting in Texas.

Deputies in Atascocita, near Houston, believe a husband shot and killed his wife. Sheriff’s deputies say multiple shots were fired at a home around 4 pm, Thursday.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez released a statement on his Facebook page.

According to ABC13 in Houston, the man has been identified as Gregory Hightower, a US Navy Recruiter.

A neighbor’s home surveillance camera captured the encounter. Investigators say the woman was shot while holding her baby. The baby is okay.

As the husband took off, investigators say he came across some investigative service agents from the Navy. They shots were fired and he took off again.

When deputies arrived, they say the suspect started shooting at them. The suspect was shot multiple times and died.

“It’s a crazy day you know. We had talked about it last night and she told me that she feared for her life last night and I had actually helped her lock up the house and get everything together and then this happened,” a neighbor told a reporter with NBC Universal.
