LEWISTOWN (25 News Now) - It’s not a sight or a smell anyone wants in their home. In Lewistown, there’s mold and plants growing inside an apartment just a block down from the county courthouse.

Christine Lennington has lived in the six-unit apartment building on Main Street in Lewistown since Spring 2021. She first noticed moisture, mold and exposed electrical wiring in the crawl space at the beginning of September.

Since then, Lennington says her family is staying with her in-laws despite being offered alternate housing by their landlord. She wants the issues with the building to be fixed for future tenants and safety concerns for the surrounding downtown area.

“If this building catches on fire, the whole Main (Street) right next to the Courthouse, and there’s new business, the boutique all that catch on fire,” Lennington said of the exposed wiring.

We have made contact with the landlord who says they have called an expert to look into the situation. Lewistown Police are also aware. We have not yet heard back from the local health department.
