PEORIA (25 News Now) - Tri-County Urban League President Dr. Dawn Jeffries is taking a leave of personal absence from a position she has held since May 2021.
A source familiar with the situation told 25News they were informed of her leave Tuesday. They are not aware of the reason behind the leave or how long it will last but are extending their support to Jeffries.
Current Urban League employee Donna Bell will take over the president’s operations in the interim. Our source said Bell will handle the president’s duties until Jeffries decides her next steps.
Jeffries was named president on May 10, 2021, and began her work on June 7, of the same year. She followed former President Laraine Bryson who retired from the position she held since 1993.
The Urban League President is responsible for daily agency operations of the agency and working with the Board, staff, and volunteers.
