PEORIA (25 News Now) - We won’t see too much change in our weather to start the weekend, but keep a close eye on tomorrow’s forecast. A few showers and storms may be possible early in the day, but our main focus will be chances for strong or severe storms late tomorrow evening into Sunday night. It will also be hot this weekend and early next week, but cooler weather will return late next week.

This Weekend:

Partly cloudy to partly sunny skies will continue today with highs in the mid to upper 80s. A few stray showers and storms may be possible late tonight into Sunday morning, especially for areas near and west of the Illinois River.

Most of tomorrow will be dry with partly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 80s.

Showers and storms will be likely late tomorrow evening into Sunday night. Some of these storms could become strong or severe, especially for areas near and west of the Illinois. As of right now, the best timing looks to be between 10 PM and 2 AM.

If any storms become strong or severe, high winds up to 60 mph will be the main concern. Locally higher wind gusts may be possible. Heavy rain and isolated large hail may also be possible.

Next Week:

Mid-summer heat and humidity will continue into early next week. Highs will be the upper 80s on Monday and then low 90s Tuesday and Wednesday.

A cold front will move through late Wednesday into early Thursday morning. A few showers may be possible as the front moves through, but the big change will be a noticeable drop in our temperatures. Highs will fall into the low to mid 70s late next week.
