One Class at a Time: Ms. Morales
PEORIA (25 News Now) - A new class still feels like a new beginning for one District 150 teacher.
She’s making sure her students remain focused by mixing in some old tricks.
Ms. Morales is in her second year at RIchwoods High School.
“I love the people here, I love the students here, this school has just made it really easier to get going in my first and second year.”
Not only nominated but she was selected as a winner of our One Class at a Time grant.
While her schedule is busy, she still is able to teach three hours of both geography and Black history.
She says the grant money will be used to purchase books for each class.
“They had a lot of good information in it, so I think it would be good for a research project for this class. If I have left over, probably some geography books for them to do extra research in them as well.”
As for now her geography class is going a bit old school using a classic combat game as a learning tool.
“Currently they’re playing battleship to learn how to do latitude and longitude, so we’re learning our map skills right now, and then we’ll be making our own maps soon.”
Making sure her students stay afloat, she’s already making a difference in the classroom early in their teaching career.
